Preparing for your lesson
What to bring
Swimsuit: You will be in the water for most of the lesson, so make sure you wear appropriate swimwear.
Wetsuit or leggings: You'll be starting off on your knees, so we recommend a wetsuit or leggings to provide protection while you practice your balance before standing on the board.
Sunglasses: Bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun's glare reflecting off the water and splashing water.
Sunscreen: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays. See the shopping page for my favorite eco-friendly brands.
Towel: Bring a towel to dry off after your lesson.
Water shoes: You'll be barefoot while foiling, but water shoes will protect your feet from sharp shells and rocks on the beach. Crocs or flip-flops are fine.
Sense of adventure: Most people describe their first eFoiling experience as "magical," so come prepared with a positive attitude and an open mind to learn and enjoy the experience.
What we provide
LIFT3 and LIFT4 eFoils: Our eFoil board sizes are 5'4" and 4'9" with several front and back wing options for experienced foilers to try out.
Lifejacket: We have S, M, L, XL coast guard approved life jackets available for your use, but if you have your own, feel free to bring it along!
Helmets: Safety first. Our eFoils can reach speeds over 30 mph. Watersports helmets are required for lessons.
Sunglass retaining straps/goggles: The learning progression for eFoiling starts on your belly, then onto your knees, or all fours. Sunglasses work great to keep the spray out of your eyes. We've can lend you a pair of goggles or retention straps for your glasses if you need them.
A safe and fun experience: Most people describe their first eFoiling experience as "magical," so come prepared with a positive attitude and an open mind to learn and enjoy the experience.
What to expect
During your first efoil lesson, you can expect to receive an introduction to the equipment, safety guidelines, and basic efoiling techniques. Here's a general outline of what you can expect during your first efoil lesson:
Introduction: Your instructor will introduce you to the equipment, including the efoil board, battery, motor, and remote control. They will explain how each component works and how to use them.
Safety guidelines: Your instructor will go over essential safety guidelines, such as how to control the board, how to fall off the board safely, and how to avoid other watercraft and obstacles in the water.
Basic efoiling techniques: Your instructor will teach you the fundamental efoiling techniques, such as how to stand up on the board, how to balance your weight, how to control your speed, and how to turn.
Practice and Progression: You will have the opportunity to practice these techniques in the water with the assistance of your instructor. You will start by laying on the board, then progress to kneeling, and gradually work your way up to standing.
Overall, your first efoil lesson will be an exciting and thrilling experience, and you will likely learn a lot about the sport and the equipment. Make sure to listen carefully to your instructor, ask questions if you're unsure about anything, and most importantly, enjoy the zen!
